Reason For Hope
The Supreme Court Awakes from a Long Nap
OK- who's a lawyer here?
Just this morning, in a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court basically said to Trump:
“You can't unilaterally freeze Agency for International Development money that was already legally promised to contractors and sub-contractors all over the world.
BUT--the decision ALSO sent the case back to the original Federal district judge who initially ordered Trump and his gang to let go of the money.
So, here's the question: Why did the Supreme majority send the case back to the district court? Why not just say, in response to Trump's emergency appeal: "Are you nuts!? You can't unilaterally impound money approved by Congress and legally contracted to go to various people just because you feel like it; that's UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
This is an extremely important decision, the first in what we can all hope is a chain of decisions reminding Trump that there is more than one branch of government and that he's only a king in his diseased head...
If you know the legal reason for sending the case back down to the district judge, please put it in the “comments” section. And if, like me, you don’t know, join me in taking at least a semi-deep breath because, finally, a branch of our government is reclaiming it’s power…

Superb writing, Mike... I'm ordering my accountant to immediately send you a million dollars!
