I read a lot of history, and I've noticed that in every time and place, there are always people--for whatever reason--that will be happy to fall in line with the Monster-du-jour, to carry out every despicable order. So, it's not just the lunatic at the top, its all the people who serve him and carry out his orders.
Hitler would have been a lone ranting nut if he didn't have a hard core--and ultimately, millions--of willing murderers.
Back in the Sixties, we fought back all over the place, BUT we weren't up against an actual dictator the way we are now... There was a fundamental system of laws and justice that everybody-- the bad guys and the good guys--agreed on. But what do you do when the bad guy in charge has no belief in any system of laws aside from his own twisted, vengeful fantasies?
Will people actually go out on the streets in their hundreds of thousands--on a regular basis I guess we'll find out...
